MAVERICK TRANSPORTATION ANNOUNCES FIRST FEMALE DRIVER FOR VETERAN TRIBUTE TRUCK, “SALUTE”

  Friday, December 15, 2023

December 15, 2023 (North Little Rock, Ark.) – Maverick Transportation is excited to announce their newest veteran tribute truck driver, 2022 Driver of the Year, Army veteran and road trainer, Charlette Cohee.

Charlette has been with Maverick for over 6 years and has achieved an incredible number of accomplishments during that time. Not only is Charlette an Army veteran, but since starting with Maverick, she has trained over 14 student drivers, was a Driver of the Month and was named Maverick’s 2022 Driver of the Year.

When asked about the opportunity to drive Salute, Charlette said, “When I say I am honored, I can’t put it into words or describe it. This entire year has been unbelievable, and I am still speechless. Yes, I work hard but this is so humbling. I truly appreciate it!”

To date, Charlette is the 10th Maverick driver to take the helm of a Salute truck at Maverick. There is an extensive interview process, a high standard of performance requirement and each driver must have served in a branch of the United States military. There are currently five Maverick veterans that are driving a Salute truck. Salute was first introduced in 2018 with the aim of portraying honor and pride in our military veterans and active-duty service members. Its distinctive vinyl wrap depicts each branch of the United States military and images that show a peek into our history.

Maverick has also had the honor of hauling The Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. This exhibit tours across the United States, providing veterans the opportunity to view The Wall and experience its healing legacy—all within the comfort of family and friends in their communities. Additionally, our Salute drivers participate in Veterans Day events each November and other veteran-focused events throughout the year. The goal of each Maverick veteran truck is to portray honor and pride throughout the United States and to be a small way to thank each veteran and active service member.

Founded in 1980, based in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and operating over 1,600 units, Maverick provides OTR and Dedicated services to the flatbed, glass, marine and specialized transportation markets throughout North America. To learn more about Maverick Transportation visit www.maverickusa.com.
